  • Identify and outline bodily structures, using imaging procedures, such as x-ray, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, or positron emission tomography.

Medical dosimetrists have moderate AI exposure. AI tools can help with computer-based work like outlining body structures on scans, checking dose calculations, and drafting treatment plans. Judging whether a plan is safe for each patient, supervising how it is carried out, and consulting with the radiation oncology team still depend on trained people.

Likely to change

  • Outlining body structures on scan images
  • Calculating and checking radiation doses

Still relies on people

  • Consulting with the radiation oncology team
  • Supervising how treatment plans are carried out
