AI and this job

AI exposure: how much of this job’s work AI tools can do or help with, based on national research. It is not a forecast of job loss.

Higher exposure89 of 100

The index averages three national research measures, each shown as a percentile of all jobs:

  • AIOE 91
  • Language-model AIOE 92
  • GPTs-are-GPTs 85

Observed AI use today: Substantial (Anthropic Economic Index)

AI exposure is higher for insurance sales, and AI tools are already used in this work in a substantial way. Federal projections say tools will take over some routine work, letting agents focus on direct sales, and Massachusetts jobs are expected to shrink 3.5% by 2034. Records and renewals are the tasks most likely to change. Advising clients and building relationships rely on people.

Likely to change

  • Maintaining records and handling policy renewals
  • Building lists of prospective clients

Still relies on people

  • Customizing coverage to a person's situation
  • Explaining policy tradeoffs and earning trust

What federal projections say

“Productivity change - share decreases as artificial intelligence (AI) tools are increasingly integrated into workflows, allowing insurance sales agents to focus on direct sales activity.”
